Toby joined Bartolic Law upon his adoption in 2014. He is a super-dog, half Labrador Retriever and half Greyhound. His Labrador background makes him humble and friendly, while his Greyhound roots give him a strong prey drive and persistent nature, keeping a laser-like focus on getting clients’ claims paid (but he can be easily distracted by a toy or snack). Toby treats everybody kindly and respectfully, while fiercely protecting his humans. Toby has been head of security since 2014, but in recent years has been caught napping on the job more often. He has a keen nose for wrongful benefit denials, and any food visitors bring.

Toby was found as a stray in Kentucky with a broken knee cap that stunted the growth of his hind left femur. That leg is 2.5 cm shorter than the right leg.
Toby was nearly euthanized by his first shelter before Felines & Canines in Chicago brought him to its no-kill shelter. Michael adopted him 4 days later.
Toby loves soft toys with squeakers inside, but the squeakers (or stuffing) don’t stay inside for long.
Toby once pretended to be asleep to avoid going home from his grandparents’ house.
Toby will do absolutely anything for a snack.
Toby loves dogs, cats, and humans.
